Travels in Roma

Currently taking a siesta during the second day of Rome. It is a surreal feeling to visit a country for the first time that is home to so much history, culture and beauty.

It has been such a blessing to enjoy this trip sober, to not have that fear of something going wrong, or to be consumed by thoughts about drinking in such a beautiful place.

An added bonus is definitely the extra energy and $$! 😉

My favourite moment today happened while visiting the Vatican Museum. In one of the small courtyards, there was this very unique fountain in the centre. It looked like a piece of the Earth, with the grass on top and the roots below.

Although it doesn’t look like much, it inspired the same sense of calm in me that I feel knowing that I’m not drinking today.

What has inspired calm in your day recently?

My sister has taken some very beautiful photographs that I also wanted to share, see below or follow on Insta! @22andsober
